Coleen and husband Wayne Rooney, 32, announced the arrival of Cass Mac Rooney, their fourth son, on Thursday, February 15.

In a short message to fans, Coleen said: “So happy to welcome our Baby Boy …. Cass Mac Rooney into the world weighing a healthy 8lb 10oz. He is beautiful.”

The couple are also parents to sons Klay, four, and Kit, two.

Coleen and Wayne, who are now back home with Cass, have yet to explain the meaning behind his name.

Fans of the couple know that it was a break in tradition for them to choose a name beginning with ‘C’ when their other three children all have ‘K’ names.

While neither Coleen nor Wayne has revealed why they chose Cass, sources have suggested the name could be inspired by boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who was born Cassius Clay.

A source told The Sun that Wayne is a huge boxing fan and loved the name Cassius, but he and Coleen “decided to shorten it to be a bit more original and couldn’t be happier.”

The insider added: “They’re on cloud nine.”

There’s no word from the Rooneys yet on whether any of this is true, but it’s not the first time it’s been speculated they took inspiration from the late Muhammad Ali.

When their second son, Klay, was born in 2013, it was immediately suggested they’d named him after Ali’s actual middle name, Clay.

Coleen and Wayne, who married in Italy in 2008, haven’t had the easiest time over the last few months.

Wayne was pulled over by police in Cheshire in the early hours of September 1 while driving a female passenger home following a night of boozing.

It led to speculation the couple’s marriage was on the rocks, fuelled when Coleen was seen out and about without her wedding ring.

However, in a rare and very defiant public statement last November, Coleen set the record straight saying things weren’t perfect between them but they were still together.
