Chris Hughes has an interesting theory about those Katie Price messages

It's the saga that just won't go away

He’s been locked in a war of words with Katie Price for what feels like FOREVER over whether he did or did not reply to flirtatious messages she sent his way.

It’s been a long he said-she said feud that has, quite frankly, become rather tedious as Katie, 39, continues to insist Chris replied to her Snapchats and Chris, 24, steadfastly insisting that’s not true.

The whole saga took a new twist last week when Katie showed screengrabs of the Snapchat conversations to The Sun, who confirmed Chris had indeed been responding.

She then showed the grabs to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford behind the scenes on This Morning with them both saying, yes, she had been talking to someone named Chris.

But now Love Island star Chris has come forward with a new theory about why Katie may think that he responded… and, no, it’s not because he actually did reply!

Chris told OK! magazine he reckons Katie could have been catfished and duped into talking with somebody using his name and photos.

That would be pretty embarrassing for Katie…

Chris said he’d come to that conclusion for a few reasons including:

a) his Snapchat screen name is Chris, but he’s heard Katie’s messages came from a Chris Hughes

b) he has privacy settings that only allowed pre-approved people to message him. Obviously, Katie isn’t one of them.

He’s even gone to Snapchat bosses in a bid to recover his entire Snapchat history – and says he was given an entire detailed rundown of everyone he’s ever messaged, which proves Katie’s not among them.

In conclusion, Chris said: “I haven’t sent her any messages.

“Either the messages are from someone pretending to be me, or Katie has made them up because she’s embarrassed that I posted the flirty messages she sent me and wants to make me look bad.”

Over to you, Katie…

Katie first met Chris when he was on Loose Women after leaving the Love Island villa.

There was a bit of flirtation and banter from Katie and they posed together for a snap backstage (alongside Cash Hughes) before going their separate ways.

Chris then revealed in an interview that Katie had been sending him messages, despite knowing he has a girlfriend, Love Island co-star Olivia Attwood, 26.

Katie denied that – but was caught out when Chris posted one of said messages to Twitter.

What followed was an ongoing war of words between the pair including Chris accusing Katie of sending threats to Olivia, Katie saying she has 52 screengrabs proving Chris did reply to her messages despite saying she didn’t, and just general messiness.

She then showed some of the messages to The Sun to prove Chris had responded.

Naturally, Chris was FURIOUS and shared a lengthy and very foul-mouthed rant to Twitter before swiftly deleting it because of concern for his younger fans.

Chris vented: “Katie Price, you’re a piece of rotten [bleep]. I couldn’t give a [bleep] about you. Be a mother, be something respectful, for everyone’s sake.

“I showed your true colours, you couldn’t live with it. You have 52 screenshots on Snapchat since I humiliated you? Comical. I’ve got my whole account history from Snapchat and a media lawyer will [bleep] you up.

“No one deserves your [bleep] and I ain’t one to take it. You [bleep] lives. You have MY number, you can see I haven’t ever sent you [bleep]. You’re washed up and you stink.”

However, Chris then had a change of heart and deleted the rant.

He explained: “I deleted that tweet cus it was disrespectful to younger fans with the language, but meant everything I said. Always back yourself (sic).”

Responding during an interview on This Morning last week, Katie said: “This is the most stupidest thing. I’ve been in this industry 23 years. It’s so tit for tat.

“Obviously Chris is very immature when it comes to the media and he obviously hasn’t got media savvy. The fact is I’m not lying.

“He’s said he never replied to any of the messages on WhatsApp. These are Snapchat. In the big scheme of things I don’t even care. He’s the one who keeps going on about it. It’s so pathetic. I don’t care if you sent me a message or not.

“I don’t care. Just don’t call me a liar when I’m not a liar. I think he’s getting himself in a rut and doesn’t know how to get out of it.”
