She was first diagnosed with the condition in 2016

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Bianca Gascoigne has been hospitalised in Dubai with a potentially serious throat infection.

The 31-year-old shared a photo from her hospital bed to Instagram Stories, saying she’d flown to Dubai to surprise her brother but ended up going to A&E instead.

In Bianca’s image, she can be seen lying in a hospital bed with sunglasses on.

Her caption reads: “I have quinsy again. Can’t eat or drink. And painkillers aren’t helping the pain. Brilliant.

“And I have a neck the size of a hippo.”

Bianca’s rep told ED! the reality star is having intravenous treatment and will remain in hospital until further notice.

She added that Bianca is utterly “heartbroken” as she’d booked the last-minute trip to Dubai to surprise her brother, having not seen him in a year.

The NHS website describes quinsy as a potentially serious complication of tonsillitis, saying: “Sometimes you can get a pocket filled with pus (abscess) between your tonsils and the wall of your throat.”

Bianca was previously diagnosed with quinsy in 2016.

She told The Sun Online how she developed a sore throat that got so painful she ended up in A&E, where she was initially diagnosed with tonsillitis and given antibiotics.

However, Bianca’s condition then deteriorated and, after struggling to breathe or swallow, she returned to A&E where she was diagnosed with quinsy.

Bianca, who said it felt like she was “suffocating”, recalled how she was bringing up pus.

“It was horrendous,” she said. “With quinsy they say it can be fatal because it’s poison in your throat and if they don’t catch it soon enough – if you swallow the poison, it is really, really serious.

“When it popped in my mouth I thought I was going to die from the poison.”

Bianca, who is the daughter of football legend Paul Gascoigne, appeared in the winter 2017 series of Celebrity Big Brother, where she struck up a romance with fellow housemate Jamie O’Hara.

The romance fizzled out once the show ended.

Bianca, who has also auditioned for X Factor, won Love Island, and appeared on Celebrity Coach Trip, is now the manager of London club The Gaslight Club.
