Catherine Tyldesley has revealed her three-year-old son Alfie is getting ready to start pre-school next month.

The former Coronation Street actress, 34, shared an adorable throwback photo to Instagram on Tuesday of herself and Alfie when he was younger.

The snap sees doting mum Catherine giving her little boy a kiss as he grins for the camera.

Reflecting on how quick Alfie is growing up, Catherine captioned the post: “#throwback #Alfie… where has time gone?? Can’t believe my lil dude starts pre-school next month.”

Fans gushed over the beautiful pic and fellow mums shared their similar experiences with the star.

One person said: “Beautiful boy. I feel like I’ve blinked as my little girl starts full time school next month.”

Another added: “What? How is he that age already!?” while a third wrote: “Tissues at the ready!”

Last month, Catherine opened up about plans for baby number two after admitting playing a new mum on the cobbles made her broody.

“The twins are just gorgeous – they’re beautiful and so chilled and easy to work with,” she told Reveal of the babies playing Eva’s newborn, Susie.

“Tom’s like, ‘alright, stop holding babies!'” she added. “It has definitely made me broody for another one – I love kids.”

However, the actress said the time isn’t yet right for her to become a mum again.

“Not anytime soon! I feel like I have got my baby fix for a while,” she said.

Catherine announced in December last year she would be leaving Coronation Street.

She recently filmed her final scenes as barmaid Eva.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, she said leaving had been a difficult decision as Corrie is a “secure job” that she knows and loves.

But she said she’s looking forward to having more time to spend with Alfie and hubby Tom.

“I knew I made the right decision because I felt excited,” she said. “Leaving was the right decision for my family.”
