Catherine Tyldesley has explained why she’s ditched her trademark long blonde hair for a new, shoulder-length brunette look.
The soap star – who plays Eva Price – told ITV’s Good Morning Britain she’d wanted to switch up her style for a while but couldn’t change her hair colour while she was filming.
But now that she’s shot her final Corrie scenes as Eva, she’s free to do what she pleases!
Catherine, 34, said: “This [colour] is more like me. It’s a little bit darker than what I am naturally.
“When I started Corrie, I’d just done a sketch show and I was blonde for that, and they felt Eva was blonde and so did I. I felt she should have long blonde hair, but this is actually more the real me.”

The soap actress admitted she’s still getting used to the dramatic change herself!
“It’s a bit weird,” she laughed. “I keep walking past windows and mirrors and forgetting I’ve done it!”
Catherine also said the new hair colour means less people recognise her in the street these days!
Of course, the Corrie favourite was also quizzed on GMB about recent rumours she could sign up for Strictly Come Dancing.
Sadly for fans, Catherine said she’s got no current plans to take a whizz on the dance floor, although she wouldn’t rule it out in the future.
She said: “I love watching Strictly, I think it’s a fantastic show so never say never. At the moment I’m just focusing on the acting but it’s a great show.
“Somewhere down the line I’d love to do it, absolutely, yeah!”
Although Catherine’s character, Eva, is on Corrie screens until August, she has already filmed her final scenes, and has promised viewers can expect some amazing storylines.
She’s also hinted Eva could return to the cobbles one day…

Catherine recently told OK! Magazine: “I’m really lucky that they’ve left the door open for me, I adore it there, so I’m sure we will see Eva wreaking more havoc in the future!”
In the meantime, Catherine has been back at auditions and is eyeing up a “gritty drama” to get her teeth stuck into.
