Caroline Flack opens up about ‘surprise’ engagement

Andrew Brady popped the question three months into romance

Caroline Flack has spoken out for the first time about her engagement to Andrew Brady.

The Love Island presenter stunned fans in April when she announced plans to wed former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Andrew after just three months of dating.

But in a new interview with Daily Mail’s You magazine, Caroline has defended her relationship and said she’s happy, which is all that matters.

Caroline, 38, said it was a complete surprise when Andrew, 27, popped the question, but she had no hesitation in saying yes.

“Andrew proposed totally out of the blue and it was very low key. I had no idea he was planning on asking me to marry him!” she said.

“But I knew things felt different in the lead-up; from the very first date with Andrew I felt as though I’d known him for years. I’ve never had that feeling before.”

Caroline added that her mum is thrilled for her, saying she and Andrew “seem like best mates – and that’s all I want.”

As for when the wedding will take place, there’s no date yet!

The former X Factor presenter was previously forced to defend her engagement, after the happy couple were faced with accusations it was all a publicity stunt and so-called ‘sources’ claimed Caroline’s friends were worried that Andrew could be using her to boost his profile.

Caroline responded on Twitter: “I don’t like to speak up on things. But. He’s my boyfriend. And he’s lovely to me. He’s new to this world. No one is perfect. But he (sic).”

The star added: “Give people a break …. we all [bleep] up… all of us … people spend so much time over analysing things … let it be.”

She didn’t address what she meant by people making mistakes, but there were claims earlier in the year that Caroline and Andrew briefly split.

Caroline also shut down the nasty trolling she and Andrew have received since news of their engagement broke.

She said: “And while all you weirdos are taking time to write mean comments about someone you don’t know …. I’ll get back to my love nest.”

Among those sending support to Caroline was her twin sister Jody, who said: “Love it when you follow your heart sis…. It’s such a good one. There’s some ‘bad ones’ out there…. It might be why they don’t get it. Poor things!!”

Andrew, meanwhile, also spoke out on the engagement, sharing a photo of himself and Caroline on holiday with the caption: “Thank GOD I found this one.”

He also posted a photo to Instagram showing him with Caroline on the set of Love Island’s new trailer.

She donned a pilot costume for the promo, ahead of the fourth series of Love Island kicking off on ITV2 in June.
