Caroline Flack defends Andrew Brady engagement

The Love Island host has told critics to mind their own business

| Updated:

Love Island host Caroline Flack has defended her quick engagement to fiancé Andrew Brady.

The couple confirmed their engagement at the weekend, after former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Andrew, 27, popped the question following three months of dating.

Since then, the pair have been faced with accusations it’s all a publicity stunt and so-called ‘sources’ have claimed Caroline’s friends are worried that Andrew could be using her to boost his profile.

Well, Caroline, 38, has had enough and took to social media to shut down negativity about their romance.

She was particularly irked by one newspaper article that referred to her new fiancé as a “desperate reality TV Z-lister”. Ouch.

Caroline responded: “I don’t like to speak up on things. But. He’s my boyfriend. And he’s lovely to me. He’s new to this world. No one is perfect. But he (sic).”

The star added: “Give people a break …. we all [bleep] up… all of us … people spend so much time over analysing things … let it be.”

She didn’t address what she meant by people making mistakes, but there were claims earlier in the year that Caroline and Andrew briefly split over rumours he had been unfaithful.

However, neither Caroline nor Andrew ever confirmed that was true.

Caroline also shut down the nasty trolling she and Andrew have received since news of their engagement broke.

She said: “And while all you weirdos are taking time to write mean comments about someone you don’t know …. I’ll get back to my love nest.”

Among those sending support to Caroline was her twin sister Jody, who said: “Love it when you follow your heart sis…. It’s such a good one. There’s some ‘bad ones’ out there…. It might be why they don’t get it. Poor things!!”

Caroline replied: “Breaking news. … Jody Flack tweets for first time ever. Love u twin head.”

Andrew, meanwhile, also spoke out on the engagement, sharing a photo of himself and Caroline on holiday with the caption: “Thank GOD I found this one.”

He disabled comments on his Instagram post, perhaps not wanting any negativity to spoil the couple’s happy moods.

While there have been critics, plenty of fans have sent love and support to the newly-engaged couple.

One person wrote: “I feel so happy for Caroline Flack & Andrew Brady like Caroline’s found her Prince that she’s been waiting for love seeing her happy.”

Another said: “Don’t listen to all the negative comments, as long as you are happy that is all that matters, good luck to the both of you.”

A third wrote: “Who cares what people think. So long as you are happy that’s all that matters.”

Caroline and Andrew confirmed their surprise engagement on Saturday night, with Caroline posting a photo to Instagram showing her flashing her gorgeous engagement ring.

She told fans: “He’s put it on my finger and it won’t come off … so I’ve said yes.”

Appropriately, the Love Island host wore a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “choose love”.

The couple have given no further details about the proposal, but The Sun on Sunday claims Andrew, 27, got down on one knee last week and their current sunshine holiday is to celebrate the big news.

An insider told The Sun: “Caroline is totally in love. Andrew treats her like a princess. She’s grinning from ear to ear because she feels like she’s found The One.”

Caroline, meanwhile, thanked fans and friends for their well-wishes.

She said: “Thank you for so many lovely messages! Really appreciate them! It’s such a lovely feeling… we’re off on hols.”

She’s always kept her romance with former Apprentice star Andrew relatively under wraps, but it’s believed they got together in February, shortly after his stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
