The shot shows the couple on the back of a water taxi in Venice, smiling in the sun.

The caption read “Really missing @cassola21 but will be here tomorrow. This is my favourite picture of us ever #Venice #taxi #10thanniversary #celebrations”

The pair have been engaged since 2008, and although they’ve never quite got around to the wedding, Carol insists they still plan to tie the knot.

Speaking to Best Magazine in 2017 she said the pair were planning to get married this year.

“It’s definitely going to happen next year,” she said. “Although, to be fair, I have said that for the last five or six years.

“Look seriously, it’s important to us – we’ve lost family this year, and that cemented that we want to be together and married.”

The radio and TV presenter underwent treatment for breast cancer after being diagnosed in 2014 – she had a mastectomy as well as going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

She returned to Loose Women this year after a five-year absence, and discussed how the illness had affected her – even admitting to plastic surgery to combat some of the effects.

“My face just didn’t match with what’s going on in my head,” she said. “I felt like my cancer and the treatments had aged me a lot.”

She underwent a facelift in order to try and regain some confidence.

“I started to feel there was no point in trying to look ‘nice’. I’d avoid make-up, I thought it would just highlight nooks and crannies,” she said. “Now I feel good.”
