Busted signing in chaos after Black Friday stabbing

A suspected thief slashed the police officer with a knife

A police officer has been stabbed in a Leeds HMV store after he confronted a suspected shoplifter during the Black Friday sales.

Boyband Busted are due to sign copies of their album in the store, but there appearance has been thrown into doubt after the attack.

The group were nearly forced to cancel their sold out event, but it has been revealed the appearance will go on.

The male officer was attacked shortly after the store opened at 9am for the Black Friday sales.

He was taken to hospital with slash wounds to his neck, face and hand.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and he is being treated at a local hospital.

The reported thief became furious and stabbed an officer when he was asked what he was doing.

A West Yorkshire police insider said: “The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Leeds was detained by store staff and has been arrested in connection to the incident.

“The store is currently closed while the scene undergoes forensic examination.”

At least 450 wristbands have been sold to Busted fans who are keen to pre-order their album and meet the boys in person.

Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne were due in the shop to meet fans at 5.30pm.

The store has now reopened again , with staff confirming the album signing will go ahead as planned.
