Brendan Cole reportedly lined up for I’m A Celebrity stint after Strictly axe

Will he be swapping Craig for the critters?

| Updated:

After being axed following 14 years on Strictly Come Dancing, Brendan Cole could be heading off into the jungle.

No, he’s not going on a retreat to find himself, but is rumoured to be signing up for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The 41-year-old has reportedly been chased by the ITV show over the years, but the dancer has been unable to accept due to his contract with Strictly and the BBC.

Now he’s been given the elbow from Strictly, producers of I’m A Celebrity are reportedly hoping he will say yes, especially after former Strictly dancer Ola Jordan took part in 2016 after leaving the dance show.

A source told The Sun: “Brendan is outspoken and ITV think he’d be gold.”

“It would be a good move for all, he’ll get a great payday post-Strictly, and bosses will get him spilling the beans about the show to millions.”

Plus fans would get the bonus of seeing Brendan out of the sequins and in a vest and shorts instead.

Sounds like a good deal to us.

When Entertainment Daily! put it to ITV that they were after Brendan for their hit show, a rep for the show had no comment.

Brendan had appeared on Lorraine earlier in the week, revealing that he had not had his Strictly contract renewed for the first time since he started the show.

He admitted: “I’m very disappointed. I’ve always known this day will come but to actually get here.”

He added: “I’m a very strong character within the show – I have my strong views. I love that side of the show, I like being a character.”

Whilst he didn’t give a reason, there were already rumours flying around that New Zealander had maybe crossed the line by answering back to Strictly’s head judge Shirley Ballas last series.

He said he would continue to watch the show and “support my friends who are in it,” before he revealed to Lorraine that he’d told his fellow Strictly friends the news just ten minutes before going on air to tell the nation.

He joked: “I’m very sad to leave, however available for weddings, funerals and bar mitzvahs.”

And jungle jinks with any luck!
