Recording two Instagram videos from what appears to be his home in Dublin, Ireland, Keith captioned them, “Good evening, beautiful people”, and took a few moments to thank the band’s supporters for the “great memories”.

He said, “Good evening beautiful people. How are you buddies?

“So, you’ve all heard the announcement. We’ve decided that after 25 years, the song that we’ve just finished is going to be our last, and it will be our last tour.

“But come on, what a 25 years! What an experience we’ve all had together. We’ve all grown up together. You bring your kids along now, I bring mine too. We’ve created great memories and we’ve had a wonderful time.”

Keith also alluded to rumours that songs recorded by band member Stephen Gately, prior to his tragic death in 2009, will appear on the new Boyzone album.

“This is some of our best work – the best we could do without Stephen anyway, but even Stephen is a part of this one. Let’s make some more memories. One last time. One last lap. Come with us, let’s have some fun,” he urged.

“Don’t get sad today, get sad tomorrow. Today let’s celebrate the 25 years we’ve had.”

Unlike other bands and singers who may shun their reality roots, Keith championed the band’s humble beginnings as part of a talent show – judged by Louis Walsh, who was trying to find the Irish version of Take That.

Keith reminisced, “Remember, we came from that really dodgy TV show, we sold 50 million albums and you’ve helped us do this, you were the reason behind our success.”

Along with his other band mates, he also urged fans to join the band on their last hurrah, as their final tour kicks off in 2018, although the date is yet to be confirmed.

“So the next year, 18 months, 24 months is for you. It’s for new memories and for your kids to have memories of the memories that you had,” he said.

“I love you, and I look forward to standing on that stage and looking down into the audience and all of those faces, because you all look just as young as you did 25 years ago, I swear you do! God bless, see you soon.”
