Blue’s Antony Costa reveals he would love to join Coronation Street

He'd follow the trend of his peers joining soap

Blue’s Antony Costa has revealed he would “never say never” if given the opportunity to star in Coronation Street or Emmerdale.

With his three other bandmates, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, embarking on the soap world Antony has admitted he would love to follow in their footsteps.

Speaking to Christine Lampard on ITV’s Lorraine the singer said if he was offered to star in a soap he would “grasp it with both hands”.

Duncan stars in Hollyoaks, Lee is in EastEnders and Simon has starred in River City.

Stand-in host Christine asked the star: “What would you want to be in?”

Antony, 36, replied: “It would have to be ITV – Emmerdale or Corrie!

“It’d be great. I mean, I’m not saying it’s ever going to happen but never say never. If I ever get the opportunity I’d grasp it with both hands.”

He continued: “I’ve seen how hard the boys work and they’re reaping the reward and I’d love to have even a little bit of what they’ve got. I just would love it so much.”

Meanwhile on the show Antony opened up about his “fat-shaming hell”.

He discussed his experience of body-shaming and how he tried to change the way he looked because of hateful comments he received.

After being papped looking slightly bigger than usual back in March Antony told Christine why he drastically decided to lose weight and change his lifestyle.

He explained: “I’ve been in this business 17 years and I very rarely get papped and the one time I get papped I was driving through the night to do a charity concert.

“I’m walking down the street and this bloke took a picture and I thought that was it.

“Next thing a mate of mine text me going ‘have you seen this?’ I’ve looked and it’s like ‘oh god what do I do now’.”

He went on to admit that he refused to go down a route of self hatred and instead changed his life for the better.

“I turned that into a positive and I thought you know what if that’s how I’m being seen, I don’t want to be seen like that anymore.

“I want to be healthy, I want to be active, I want to be fit, I want to be working and looking good and feeling good,” he said.

Revealing how he changed his lifestyle Antony added: “I changed my diet, I haven’t had carbs or sugar for five months and haven’t touched a drop of alcohol, I’ve just been drinking water.”

But it wasn’t all done by cleaning his diet.

Antony confessed that he had undergone a non-surgical process, a 3D Lipo procedure, to shave inches off his waistline.

“I’ve done this non-surgical process which has changed my life. It’s non-invasive, it’s non-surgical and it kills the fat cells,” he explained.

Antony added: “Me as a bloke being in this business it’s hard because you’ve got to keep up with the Joneses, you’ve got to be seen to have the six pack, and this and that.

“But I’d rather be me and have a good personality than have a six pack and not.”

Good for him!
