Alongside a photo of her and Pudsey sharing a cuddle she wrote: “I can’t honestly believe I am writing these words.

“My handsome man has gone, and I don’t know what to do without him. My heart is broken, and I don’t know how I’m going to get through this.

“It hurts so much, that my handsome, incredible Pudsey Bear will never be by my side, where he belongs, again. We only had 11 years together, but they were the best years ever. He was my one in a billion dog that will never be replaced.

“I don’t need to write all of his endless accomplishments on here to prove how incredible he was for me.

“Sleep tight my handsome man, I love you lots xxxx.”

Fans rushed to offer their condolences for the star as one said: “Thinking of you Ashleigh sending lots of love.”

Another added: “So sorry to hear that Ashleigh ☹️Stay strong ❤️.”

A third wrote: “Sleep tight pudsey you will always be my favourite celebrity ❤️❤️❤️🐶.”

The adorable duo auditioned for the sixth series of the ITV talent show.

Performing to The Flintstones soundtrack Pudsey showed off his best dancing skills with his owner.

Their performance earned them a standing ovation from the judges with head judge Simon Cowell said “Pudsey is one of the best dancing dogs I’ve ever seen”.

After making it through to the live finals Ashleigh and Pudsey performed to the Mission: Impossible theme tune.

The super cute routine showed Pudsey walking across the judging panel and then climbing onto Ashleigh’s back.

And they definitely completely won over viewers as they won the competition after beating classical duo Jonathan and Charlotte.

Since their BGT days on June 2 2012 the duo performed their act at Epsom Downs Racecourse in front of the Queen.

And their fame went from strength to strength as later in the year they were guest judges on ITV2’s Top Dog Model.

To top this all off as part of winning the show they got to perform at the 84th Royal Variety Performance.
