Ant McPartlin's wife Lisa Armstrong has taken to social media to thank fans for their support following news this morning that her husband is seeking help in rehab.
It has been revealed that her partner of 23 years has been secretly struggling with drink and drugs and he battles depression and anxiety.
The make-up artist kept her message brief, but upbeat.
I'm relieved he's receiving the help he needs, we just need him better.
She said: "Completely overwhelmed by all your love & support it means so much. I'm relieved he's receiving the help he needs, we just need him better."
This afternoon Ant's best friend and TV presenter Dec Donnelly issued a brief statement to Twitter.
Dec posted a short but heartfelt message from the account he shares with Ant.
It said: "Thank you for all the kind messages and well wishes for the big fella.
"He will be touched. Your support is, as ever, much appreciated."
It was revealed in The Sun on Sunday that the beloved TV star had checked into rehab to get help for booze, drug and prescription medication addiction.
The BGT, Takeway and I'm a Celeb star released a statement, saying:
“The first step is to admit to yourself you need help.
“I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.
“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.
“I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”
It's not known where Ant, 41, will be receiving his treatment, but he is expected to reside at a clinic for at least two months.
There is, of course, a huge amount of speculation about what has caused him to abuse booze and drugs.
