He stepped down from TV commitments earlier this year

ITV’s chief executive Carolyn McCall has said Ant McPartlin is under no pressure and will return to TV when he’s “ready to come back”.

The Britain’s Got Talent presenter stepped down from TV commitments following his drink-drive arrest earlier this year.

During an interview with ITV News, Carolyn has confirmed Ant will be making a TV comeback but only when he’s “well enough”.

She said: “He will come back when he’s well and and when he is ready to come back.

“ITV will not be putting him under any pressure to come back unless he’s well and fit enough to come back.”

She was then asked: “But he will be returning to the channel?” to which Carolyn replied: “”As far as I know, that is true.”

In March, the Saturday Night Takeaway star made headlines when he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a car collision in London.

He pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months during a court appearance in April.

Ant, 42, told reporters outside the court: “I let myself down, I let a lot of people down. For that I’m truly sorry.”

He has been off TV screens since March, with his rep saying the star would step down from his current work commitments to focus on his well-being and returning to treatment.

Ant missed the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway‘s last series, and did not join TV partner Dec Donnelly to host the Britain’s Got Talent live shows in May.

During his break away from telly, Ant has found love with his personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett following his split from wife Lisa Armstrong, whom he was married to for 11 years.

Last week, Ant was seen out in London this weekend with Anne-Marie on a double date with his best friend Dec and his pregnant wife, Ali Astall.

And during the outing, Ant showed off his new tattoo on his inside wrist, which fans pointed out that it’s the Alcoholics Anonymous symbol.
