Andy Murray’s wife Kim gives birth to their second child

Happy baby news for Sir Andy and Kim!

Sir Andy Murray has become a dad again after his wife Kim gave birth to their second child.

The tennis pro and his artist wife are celebrating the arrival of a second daughter, who joins one-year-old big sister Sophia.

No details about the little girl have been released such as her name and date of birth, but Andy’s gran told her local radio station that the family is over the moon.

Speaking to Heart Scotland News, Shirley Erskine gushed: “We’re absolutely delighted. Another little girl, a little sister for Sophia.”

Andy, 30, and Kim, 29, announced just before this year’s Wimbledon that a second child was on the way, with Andy saying at the time: “We’re both obviously very happy and looking forward to it.”

They’ve chosen to keep Sophia, who was born in February 2016, away from the spotlight.

No photos of the little girl have ever been made public.

Andy once told The Guardian that fatherhood was now his priority over tennis.

“[Fatherhood] is a positive thing – and tennis not being your priority can help,” he said.

“It lends perspective when you have a bad loss or bad practice. The outcome of a match is not everything but I want my daughter to be proud of her dad when she grows up and sees what I did.

“I hope it works out in a positive way on the court but if it doesn’t, it’s not the end of the world.”

He echoed those thoughts in a chat with Loose Women earlier this year, saying: “Having children changes your perspective on life, changes your perspective on things, so I feel like I’m appreciating things a bit more now.

“Tennis isn’t the be all and end all, which is a good thing.

“Before, tennis was all I was bothered about, whereas now, the first thing I think about when I get up in the morning isn’t tennis anymore and that’s a good thing.”

Andy and Kim married in Dunblane, Scotland in April 2015 after a nine-year romance.

They first met as teenagers on the tennis circuit; Kim’s dad, Nigel, is a tennis coach and she’d been travelling with him when she first laid eyes on Andy.

Although Kim is frequently seen cheering Andy on from the sidelines at tennis courts around the world, she’s not a fan of the limelight.

Andy once told the New York Times that Kim would prefer to be left alone, rather than photographed, and he appreciated that being in the public eye was a “sacrifice” she’d made to be with him.

“She doesn’t like being in the newspapers, and people commenting on what she’s wearing and how she looks, and those sorts of things,” he said.

“That’s one of the things that I guess she’s also sacrificed, a little bit, for our relationship, and I appreciate that a lot. But hopefully there’s only a few more years left of it, and then we can get away from all of that stuff.””

Congratulations, guys!
