Two more I’m A Celeb stars at centre of ‘homophobic’ tweets probe

Jack Maynard left the show following social media scandal

Jack Maynard’s fans have called for other stars on I’m A Celebrity to be given the boot like he has for posting “offensive” tweets.

Some of the YouTube star’s followers believe it isn’t right he has left the jungle over comments he made online in the past while other campmates remain.

One trawled through the social media accounts of the other celebrities on the ITV show to find messages which they believed were in a similar vein to Jack’s.

They tweeted: “Jack Maynard axed from I’m A Celebrity following homophobic comments. Is Rebekah Vardy next?”

The tweet was accompanied by screen grabs of those penned by the WAG in 2013 and 2014 in which she had written “GAY… sort it out” and called someone an offensive word when describing them as a “ginger gay”.

Another dug out a tweet from Amir Khan from 2010 in which the boxer told his male followers to “beware” of another Twitter user because he’s “defiantly gay”.

One of Jack’s fans said it wasn’t fair that he had left over offensive tweets he had written when others appeared to have done the same.

They wrote: “See they have all tweeted things when they were younger. I don’t know why jack is getting all this hate. He was 16, it’s not like these tweets were from 3 months ago.”

However, Jay Walker, a friend of Rebekah’s who her “offending” tweets had been sent to said people had got it completely wrong if they interpreted her comments as homophobic.

He said she was actually mocking people who held such views, writing: “I hate to disappoint people but this tweet was to me & we were all just repeating names a guy had called us. Nothing homophobic about it & actually mocking someone who had been. Rebekah is the least homophobic or malicious person I know so afraid your all very much mistaken! Good luck Mrs Vardy.”

Meanwhile other Twitter users pointed out that Rebekah and Amir using the word “gay” to describe someone was not comparable to the offensive language Jack had used in tweets he posted five years ago.

“So just saying the word gay now is homophobic?” one pointed out.

It has come to light that there was more to Jack’s departure than the offensive tweets in which he made homophobic and racist slurs.

He is also said to be facing allegations that he sent “inappropriate messages” to a female fan.

Producers have been locked in “crisis talks” for hours over what to do about Jack and ultimately decided he had to go.

His agent said they thought it was best for him to leave so he could comment on the allegations made against him.

Their statement read: “In the last few days Jack has been the subject of a succession of media stories which he has been unable to respond to.

“Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed it would be better to bring him out.

“Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV, and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far.”

Jack’s fans have been trying to get #bringbackJack trending and start a petition to have him reinstated on the show.

However, an ITV spokesperson has confirmed his exit stating:  “Due to circumstances outside camp Jack has had to withdraw from the show.”
