ITV replaces Coronation Street and Emmerdale with FIFA Confederations Cup semi-finals

Viewers are furious

You’d think ITV had learned that dropping the soaps for football – FOOTBALL – is a very popular move.

But presumably they make too much money out of it to care, for they have pulled episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale again.

TONIGHT!!!!!

Yes, soap fans, you might want to think again about your plans for later, as there will be no Woolpack or Rovers-centric entertainment to be had.

ITV will instead be running coverage of the semi-finals of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

What? Exzackerlllly!

People already in the know are FUMIN’.

One Twitter botherer summed up many people’s feelings pretty succinctly, saying: “Coronation Street cancelled for some tinpot cup that no one’s heard of. Get a grip ITV.”

Another said: “Well done to the coronation Street cast for another gripping story it’s a pity you not on 2 nights next wk due to football so annoying.” [sic]

Typically it’s already been a gripping week in both soaps, leaving viewers hanging for more (added salt into the waiting wounds…)

In Emmerdale Rhona finally blurted out her rape ordeal to her neighbours in The Woolpack when she heard them singing Pierce’s praises.

She then became the victim of a stalker. Everyone assumed – naturally – that it was Pierce.

Paddy even laid a punch on him. But the rapist had an alibi – he was abroad when someone broke into Rhona’s place.

The true stalker was revealed as… Pierce’s mum, Martha!

Meanwhile, across the moors, Eva was busy transforming herself into a bunny boiler after discovering Aidan was cheating on her.

She also revealed that she was pregnant (although we aren’t convinced this isn’t a fib).

The woman scorned has made it clear she is going to play the long game in exacting her revenge…

Seriously, ITV schedulers, of all times to interrupt our soap viewing. Not cool, REALLY not cool.
