His family have opened up about Charlie living with mental health issues for many years.

Is it believed that he had found it hard to cope following the death of his mother when he was just nine years old.

When the news broke about the young romancer’s death after the show last night, the cause had remained private.

But suspicions about the tragedy were raised when it was noted in a fundraising page that money raised would go the brilliant mental health charity MIND.

In response to the interest in his tragic death, his loving family decided to release a moving statement to clarify what had happened.

“We have lost a very special young man who sadly never recovered from the tragic loss of his mother when he was only nine years old.

“Tragically this is another example of the mental health issues suffered by young people today as highlighted by the Heads Together campaign supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.”

When Charlie appeared on the show, viewers took to social media to express how much they loved him and were thrilled when he matched with Jo-Tara.

However, viewers were winded when Paddy McGuinness posted on Twitter: “Tonight’s Take Me Out is in memory of Charlie. A fantastic lad who I’m sure will be greatly missed by his wonderful friends & family. RIP.”

Away from the show, Charlie had studied criminology at York University and was a member of the lacrosse team.

His twin brother Harry posted a photo of them wearing tux dinner suits with the heartbreaking comment: “Words cannot express my feelings, but I feel this picture sums us up perfectly xx.”

A member of his lacrosse team wrote: “Miss you lots and I hope you’re happy wherever you are. No night out will be the same without you.”

Another pal posted:  “Nothing I can say will ever be enough, I’ll always have my memories of you and I’ll always always love you, until next time Chazman.”
