Were they the best across the series?

| Updated:

Strictly Come Dancing has sashayed its way to the final and it was time to crown the champion and hand them the Glitterball Trophy.

Coming in to the final three dances, actor Danny Mac was the favourite after stunning judges and viewers consistently throughout the series.

Would he have enough to go all the way? Well, he only had to beat Ore Oduba and Louise Redknapp.

Of course, this would be no easy feat as Ore tore up the dancefloor with he professional partner Joanne Clifton and only fell one mark short of a perfect night.

Louise then matched Danny all the way as they trailed in Ore’s wake.

It wasn’t up to the judges this time though, as the viewers were the ones that got to vote… and they did in droves.

With Len Goodman retiring from the judging panel at the end of the show, he would no doubt be pleased to know that Ore rose from an absolute beginner to being crowned Strictly champion by the public.

There was some consternation on social media though as some viewers questioned whether he was really better than Danny Mac, coupled with Oti Mabuse’s choreography.

There were certainly tears all round at the end…
