Star of legendary noughties sitcom hints at comeback

Return of this BBC smash hit would be a very TIDY move...

Larry Lamb has hinted there could be a possibly return of BBC’s much-loved comedy series Gavin & Stacey.

The sitcom hit our screens in 2007 but sadly came to an end in 2010.

But now Larry, who played Mick Shipman on the show, has revealed there’s a “distinct possibility” that it could come back as a film.

Speaking about the show coming back Larry, 69, told the Daily Mail: “I don’t think anybody that was in it would ever say no.

“It’s highly unlikely they’ll ever make another television series.”

The actor added: “It’s a distinct possibility they might make a film. That’s purely conjecture [but] it’s got a huge audience, so I’m sure that’s what they’ll do.”

The hilarious show showed the tale of love between an Essex boy Gavin, played by Matthew Horne, and Welsh girl Stacey, played by Joanna Page.

The cast also included funnyman James Corden, who played Smithy, Ruth Jones, who played Stacey’s BFF Nessa, and Rob Brydon, who played Bryn West.

Viewers were highly entertained with three drama-packed series and one Christmas special.

The show ended up winning a BAFTA award after attracting an audience of 9.2 million.

Earlier on in the year Rob admitted he would definitely be up for a reunion.

He told The Sun: “In the past I wanted to leave it on a high but mellowing in my old age, [a special] would be lovely because everyone likes each other.”

“If [show writers] James [Corden] and Ruth [Jones] want to do it then I think we’d all do it.”

Main star Matthew also spoke about the possibility of bringing the show back.

He told the Metro: “I think the story of Gavin & Stacey was tied up very nicely and satisfactory. I believe the only reason to do a return of the show is if Ruth and James felt there was more story to be told.”

James also spoke about bringing the show back. He admitted: “I’d love to do another Gavin & Stacey special. It’s just finding the time. My favourite was the last Christmas special.

“Writing that with Ruth for two weeks was just brilliant, so I’d love to do another one. Watch this space.”

Please bring it back!

Following the show James has moved his very successful TV career over to America and has his very own show – The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The star is now one of the most talked about celebs with his hilarious Carpool Karaoke show where he manages to hang out with A-listers including Victoria Beckham, Michelle Obama and Adele to have a little sing song in his car.

Fingers crossed Gavin & Stacey will make it back on our screens, even if it’s just a one off special!
