Former Glee star Mark Salling will NOT be charged with rape

Prosecutors reject case citing lack of evidence

| Updated:

Former Glee actor Mark Salling will not be charged with rape – after officials said his accuser waited too long to report the alleged crime.

The star was being investigated by police after being accused of raping a 22-year-old woman, RadarOnline reported.

The woman told police that the alleged attack took place while she was in a relationship with the star around four years ago.

But later the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told TMZ it had rejected the case – due to insufficient evidence, a four year delay in reporting the alleged incident and a lack of corroboration.

They added that if more evidence is uncovered they may re-open the case.

It comes just months after the disgraced star was charged with possession of child pornography.

Police reportedly have 100,000 pages of evidence against Salling including sick videos of kids as young as five.

The 34-year-old was arrested in December 2015 after cops raided his home and seized his laptop.

He was then charged with possessing and receiving child pornography in May.

Salling could be jailed for up to 20 years if found guilty.

He will next appear in court on November 7.

Actress Naya Rivera, who used to date Salling, said in her recent book that she wasn’t surprised by the allegations.

“I can’t say I was totally shocked. But still, WTF!” she wrote in her memoir Sorry Not Sorry.

“Then I had no doubt that God really did have my back along the way. When Mark dumped me, I thought it was the worst thing ever, but can you imagine if that didn’t happen?

“And I was laying there in bed when the battering ram came through the door?”
