Sacked Coronation Street actress lands new soap role

No lasting damage to her career, it seems…

A sacked Coronation Street actor has resurrected their career in another soap.

There was a time when it seemed that Katie Radford had cost her a chance of landing a big role, but her fortunes have now reversed.

When she was 25, she looked to have landed the role of Bethany Platt in Corrie.

The problem was that the ITV soap bosses thought she was 19, and she was playing a character who was 14.

So, Katie was promptly sacked for lying about her age, before she’d even had a chance to get in front of the camera.

Lucy Fallon was then cast in the role of Bethany, and hasn’t looked back since.

Katie seemed destined to the acting scrapheap.

She is now 27 and has joined the cast of BBC Radio Four’s The Archers and Katie couldn’t be happier.

Announcing her arrival in Ambridge with a tweet, Katie wrote:”Privileged to have joined the cast of @BBCTheArchers! Dum de dum de dum dum.”

Katie will play Lily Pargetter, who is the daughter to Elizabeth and twin sister to Freddie.

Katie said: “I believe Lily to be an extremely bright, confident, social butterfly with quite a charming wit to her.

“Despite her youth, she’s been through an awful lot and I think she’s developed a much thicker skin due to tragic past events.

“I also think she’s fiercely loyal.

“Her Mum and twin, Freddie, mean the world to her.”
