Ruth Langsford forced out of This Morning due to family illness

Fans were disappointed but sympathetic that Ruth had to be called away from the live show

Fans hoping to catch Eamon and Ruth doing their hilarious double act on the last day of the This Morning Live event were left disappointed when Ruth was nowhere to be seen.

The popular show host had been forced to pull out of her appearance in Birmingham with her husband due to a “family illness”

“So sorry I can’t be on stage with Eamonn @This Morning Live today – a family illness means I have to be elsewhere. I hope you understand x.” she said on Twitter.

But fans of the This Morning were in for a treat as the brilliant Rylan was asked to stand in for her instead.

“Due to a change in the schedule am on my way back to Birmingham to host #TMLive with @EamonnHolmes. Round 3. Let’s have ya!” he wrote.

Cheeky Eamonn, in his own wicked style, responded: “Now there’s a Sunday Bonus! Looking forward to it mate.”

A spokesperson for This Morning Live confirmed the reason for Ruth’s sudden departure from the show.

“Unfortunately due to family illness, Ruth isn’t able to attend This Morning Live today.”

Luckily fans understood Ruth’s predicament and were fast to post messages of support  on Twitter: “Sending love xxxxx,” while another added, “Sorry to hear this..wishing them well… x.”

Meanwhile Ruth has revealed that even though she is as cool as a cucumber on the This Morning couch, there are times when she can become a gibbering fan girl.

“We bumped into Will.I.Am in a hotel a while ago and I embarrassed myself,” she told OK! recently.

“We were waiting for a lift and when it opened he walked out and I looked at him and said: ‘Oh my God, Will.I.Am. I love you.” Eamonn looked at me like, ‘What are you doing?'”

She also explained that even though she and Eamonn like to bicker on telly, they are very much in love.

“We don’t argue, we disagree,” she said. “Hope that everyone can see that there’s a lot of love between us and we know how to laugh at ourselves.

“We’d never say half the things we do to each other on screen if we didn’t really love each other.

“You’d never get away with it. Every couple bicker, it’s why so many couples say they can relate to us.”
