Coronation Street bosses have acted quickly to sack one of their main characters after he went on a racist Twitter rant.
Marc Anwar, who has played businessman Sharif Nazir in Corrie for the past couple years, sent a series of bigoted tweets that described Indians as “b******s” and “p**s-drinking c***s”.
ITV released a statement about the fate of the 45-year-old Pakistani actor.
The statement read: “We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.
“We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect.”

His tweets were in response to 17 soldiers that were killed at a Kashmir army base.
This sparked a UN incident between India and Pakistan.
The shocking tweets called for Indian movies to be banned in Pakistan and for Pakistanis to leave India.
Marc has since made his Twitter account private.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman told The Sun: “We are shocked by the entirely unacceptable racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.
“As a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect.”
