John Torode makes cheeky dig at co-star Greg Wallace on GMB

But he insisted the two are actually friends

John Torode appeared on Good Morning Britain and insisted that he is friends with MasterChef co-star Greg Wallace.

But that didn’t stop him making a sly dig at the presenter and it went completely unnoticed by hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

There’s been a lot of commotion after John, 51, revealed he doesn’t spend time with Gregg, 52, outside of work with accusations flying around that they were in some kind of feud.

Presenter Susanna Reid asked the star: “Gregg Wallace: friend or foe?’”

To which John quickly replied: “Friend. Always friend.

“We’re mates. We don’t hang out, no.”

A baffled Piers then asked: “Never?”

John replied: “No we don’t hang out because we spend so much time together.

“We sort of save it for his weddings. That happens about once a year, so that’s fine,” he added clearly making a dig at Greg’s many past relationships.

But while John seemed slightly amused at his dig, Piers and Susanna completely missed the funny comment.

Talking about his co-presenter recently John, who’s dating actress Lisa Faulkner, revealed: “If we do go out for a drink, I’ll invariably be at one end of a big old table and he’ll be at the other.

“We ended up having a massive fight about one of the contestants, and he got really stubborn – it was ridiculous.

“We’ve had a couple of standoffs over the years, about contestants, and I’ve just had to walk away from him.”

But the star has revealed the two are friends and there was no such feud between the pair like everyone was suspecting.

Meanwhile on Good Morning Britain John wasn’t the one only making sly digs.

The show’s weatherman Alex Beresford made a cheeky swipe at controversial host Piers.

Alex, who had his beard shaved live on yesterday’s show, told the hosts: “I did feel the cold yesterday.

“Usually my cheeks are shielded from the cold wind by that bushy beard but it’s no longer.”

But as Piers asked: “Do you think we are spending slightly too much energy on your half inch stubble,” Alex hit back at the star saying: “We spend loads of time on you Piers.”
