Gogglebox viewers in tears as Scarlett Moffatt breaks down on show

Devastating story of a little boy's battle with cancer broke the audience

| Updated:

A host of celebrities – including Olly Murs, Niall Horan, Anna Friel and Steve Coogan – joined the Gogglebox special aired during Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer evening.

But it was a little boy called Robbie that dominated the attention of viewers and Goggleboxers alike, doubtless reducing everyone watching to tears.

Robbie’s daddy, Mark, was seen talking about the death of his wife Kate from the killer disease… and then he revealed that his little boy – already devastated by the loss of his mum when he was eight years old – was diagnosed with the same illness.

Pictures flashed across the screen, showing the brave boy’s battle against the illness, as Mark talked of the final days he shared with his son, before he lost his life at the age of just 10.

Show favourite Scarlett Moffatt echoed the thoughts of everyone watching as she tearfully questioned how life could be so cruel as to take away a little boy’s mummy and then condemn him to an illness when he needed her most.

The big-hearted Geordie lass urged viewers to donate to the charity event.

Gogglebox fans took to Twitter to voice their sadness and pledge their support to the cause.
