Former character set for a Coronation Street return

Will anyone be pleased to see them?

| Updated:

Coronation Street’s Sally Metcalfe is to get a blast from her past when her sister, Gina Seddon, returns to the cobbles.

Gina’s first stint on the street was between 1988 and 1989, and she caused all sorts of trouble.

She had a one-night stand with Martin Platt, but was seeing Billy Wyatt at the time and she caused quite the scandal.

Corrie boss Kate Oates had teased the new arrival in her recent interview with Inside Soap. She told them:

“There will be another face from the Webster past making a return.

“Sal’s girls are back already, but someone else may soon be turning up who will extend the family even further.”

Looks like we’ve found our winner!

Since Gina left, Sally hasn’t really mentioned her sister much, except for the time she went to stay with her when she was recovering from breast cancer in 2010.

From what we remember of Gina, she’s definitely the black sheep of the family. known for her trouble-making and dodgy behaviour, we wonder if that’s why Sal’s kept her out of sight all these years?

Former The Bill actress Connie Hyde is taking over from previous actress Julie Foy, and has already been spotted filming on location with Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster).

It looks like Rosie hunts her aunt down, but why, we don’t know.

As far as we’re aware, Gina’s married to Colin, and they have two children. One of her kids, Leah, is set to return with her, but as for the rest of the clan, that’s yet to be confirmed.

Trouble or not, family might just be what Sally needs around her as she faces a vicious online troll in the coming weeks.

And Kate revealed things aren’t going to be plain sailing for the Mecalfes.

“Sally and Tim are set to struggle,” she continued to Inside Soap.

“Sally might be a snob, but she has a good heart and has worked hard to get where she has, working for the council. So the idea that she might be forced out is a frightening one.”

Will all the chaos calm down when Gina arrives? It’s unlikely!
