Emmerdale’s Natalie J Robb reveals homeless struggle

Actress once found herself on the streets.

She might have been nominated for a National Television Award last week, but life hasn’t always been so glamorous for Emmerdale actress Natalie J Robb.

Revealing to the Sunday Post that she once had to live in her car, Natalie went on to explain she took it all in her stride.

At the start of her career, aged 21, Natalie moved to London from Scotland and told how when she first arrived the high living costs saw her sleeping in her car.

“I was OK, but I lived in my car for a couple of weeks when I first came down,” she said.

“I was due to stay with my cousin but he had another lodger meaning I couldn’t stay straight away so I just slept in my car.

“I didn’t mind – I just thought it was all part of the experience.”

She went on to explain she was driven by a “burning desire” to succeed and that she asked the universe to help her out:

“I looked up to the sky to ask the universe and thought I’m going to do this and follow this dream and if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work but, back me up, will you?”

Her determination to succeed definitely paid off and after stints in Doctors and EastEnders, she landed the role of Moira Barton in Emmerdale in 2009.

After her on-screen husband John died, Moira married Cain Dingle, but they’re currently estranged.

Fans are desperate for ‘Coira’ to be reunited, and with Natalie recently telling Digital Spy that something’s going to happen that will be the “making or breaking” of them, viewers are hoping it’s the former.

For her brilliant portrayal of grieving Moira after her daughter, Holly’s, death, Natalie was nominated for Best Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs, but lost out to EastEnders Lacey Turner on the night.

At least she got a chauffeur driven car home this time!
