Emmerdale’s Joanie dies, sparking rumors of Denise Black’s Coronation Street return

Will she get a warm welcome in Weatherfield?

The shock death of Emmerdale’s Joanie Dingle could lead to Denise Black’s return to Coronation Street – if fans have got anything to do with it!

Viewers are sure that’s why Joanie suddenly died, so the actress can return to the cobbles to reunite with her son, Daniel.

In last night’s Emmerdale, Viewers and villagers alike prepared for the return of Joanie, who had been locked up for assaulting a police man.

Kerry was organising a Welcome Home party, when she discovered than Zak wanted to begin formal divorce proceedings from Joanie.

Lisa agreed to collect her from prison to break the news – and let her know that she and her husband were now together.

But as they chatted, Joanie managed to convince Lisa that neither of them needed the beardy oaf and they were fine alone.

Then Joanie’s head suddenly flipped back – and the soap went to an ad break.

As the show returned, shell-shocked Lisa arrived home to break the news to Zak.

“Joanie’s died. I collected her from prison, we were talking, we were fine,” she told her ex-husband. “Then she keeled over.

“I called an ambulance, they tried to resuscitate her, but she’d gone.”

BLIMEY.

But the circumstances surrounding her shock death aren’t the thing that have got viewers talking – it’s the fact she may now return to Coronation Street to reprise her role as Denise Osbourne.

Denise’s son with Ken Barlow, Daniel Osbourne, has recently returned to Corrie and is right at the heart of the Barlow family action.

He revealed his mum had walked out on him when he was 15 and all he’d heard from her since were regular payments into his bank.

Could the time be right for a reconciliation?

Paul Lang tweeted:

“I hope Denise Black got straight on that TransPennine Express to Weatherfield after she filmed Joanie’s last scene”.

While Darren Haywood asked: “So no that Joanie has died, are we going to see Daniel’s mom Denise make a return to Coronation Street?”

And Debby said: “Joanie’s demise paving the way for a return to Corrie”.

Kelli Packham also agreed: “So now that Joanie has died in Emmerdale I’m guessing that means Denise Black will be reprising her role as Denise Osbourne in Corrie [sic]”.

There’s so many unanswered questions about Denise’s disappearance from Daniel’s life, that it would be great to see her back.

Would the attraction between her and Ken still be there? Can Daniel forgive his mum for walking out on him? And just where has she been all these years?

We wonder if the answer to the last question will be a sleepy village in the Yorkshire Dales…
