Emmerdale viewers horrified by Chrissie’s attempt to kiss her uncle

It all got a big Dingle-esque for last night

| Updated:

While Emmerdale isn’t averse to keeping it in the family, those sort of plots are usually reserved for the Dingles only.

But last night Chrissie White tried to snog her own uncle… and viewers were left gagging over their spag bol.

One posted: “Ewww attempted incest by Chrissie.”

Another helpfully pointed out “Chrissie you are chatting up your uncle.”

And a third said: “Eww no please don’t Chrissie.”

Emojis were of course heavily employed by all.

In Chrissie’s defence, she doesn’t know that Tim – played by soap’s busiest man, Mark Monaghan, who’s been in Corrie, Brookside and Holby City – is her uncle so this isn’t quite a Nat and Georgia in Brookie situation.

And when ‘Simon’ – who Chrissie believes Tim to be – knocked her back last night, she concluded that that must mean that he is gay. A tiny bit arrogant, that Chrissie, but hey – we can see how you might not have seen the uncle thing coming.

The confusion happened after Tim arrived in the village to take revenge on Chrissie’s adoptive father Lawrence, who he has accused of killing his brother.

Lawrence framed John for a crime he didn’t commit, leading to him being sent to prison and ultimately killing himself.

And despite Lawrence warning Tim off stirring the pot by getting all gangster round at his house, Tim’s not going anywhere.

And while he’s around, he wants to form a relationship with his biological niece Chrissie. But, er, not that kind! He didn’t mean that kind!

Chrissie is oblivious to all of this and just thinks he is a man named Simon, who she quite fancies. Awkward.

Spoilers have revealed that Chrissie is set to find out the truth after Lachlan puts Tim into a car boot – seriously, this seems to happen a lot in soap, is this NORMAL? – and she hears his screams from an isolated outbuilding.

“The truth will hurt Chrissie,” Louise Marwood, who plays her, told The Sun. “She’s always getting her feelings smashed and this is no different.”

Erm actually Louise, this is slightly different. It’s a bit grosser.
