Ever since Emmerdale’s producer Iain McLeod revealed there was set to be a hot new couple in town this summer, we’ve been wracking our brains to think who it might be.
In scenes to be screened next week, are we in for a real shock as one VERY unlikely couple get thrown into each other’s orbit?
In an interview with Metro earlier this year, Iain said:
“We’ve got a new, sexy affair kicking off in the summer time that will come out of the blue and shock a few people.”
And who would be more shocking than – wait for it – Harriet Finch and Cain Dingle?!

It all starts off when Harriet has a really bad day. She pays a visit to Ashley at his care home and is heartbroken to see how far he’s deteriorated.
When she returns to the village, she seeks solace in the church, but she’s horrified to find Cain there – and he’s not after some advice from god.
Instead, he’s using the holy place to stash some stolen mobile phones!
Fuming Harriet’s had enough – it takes a brave woman to tackle Cain Dingle, but the former copper knows exactly what she’s doing and insists he return the phones immediately.
Cain doesn’t take her very seriously and doesn’t respond, so grabs the bag and storms off with them!
The bad boy Dingle doesn’t know if she’s going to drop him in it or not, and it seems Harriet doesn’t know what to do either.
Will she report his crimes to the police? Or is something holding her back? A hint of excitement perhaps?
Could that feeling spill over into passion for Cain? Stranger things have happened.

Yes, what about the Cain and Moira reunion? That’s one couple we really want to get back together. Would an affair with Harriet, as juicy as it sounds, put the final nail in the coffin of Coira?
A few months ago, Natalie J Robb teased that there’s “something due to happen later on in the year that will either tear us apart or keep us together”.
Is Cain’s affair with Harriet THAT something?
It’s looking more and more likely that Carriet will happen – we’re just not sure how we feel about it yet…
