Emmerdale SPOILER: Rhona and Pierce get engaged

This is NOT good news

| Updated:

It’s the Emmerdale engagement news no one’s been waiting for when Rhona Goskirk agrees to marry Pierce Harris.

After repeated rapes and sexual assaults at the hands of her boyfriend, viewers have been desperate for Rhona to get away from her controlling man.

But she’s set to do exactly the opposite when, after sharing a kiss with ex-husband Paddy Kirk, she accepts Pierce’s marriage proposal.

With the anniversary of Tess’s death looming large, another row kicks off over Pierce’s aggressive sexual advances.

Storming off, Pierce disappears without a word about where he’s going.

At the same time, Rhona gets her decree absolute and decides to drown her sorrows in the Woolpack – where she runs into the man she’s divorced.

As they reminisce about old times, and get more and more drunk, Paddy and Rhona end up sharing a kiss.

When Pierce returns home the next day, Rhona is furious with him, but realising it’s the anniversary of Tess’s death, and already feeling guilty over her kiss with her ex, Rhona’s anger quickly turns to guilt.

Wanting to make it up to him and make sure he never finds out about her illicit snog, Rhona suggests he proposes to her again. Noooooo!

As excited Pierce gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him, Rhona appears delighted to accept and they excitedly prepare to spread their happy news.

With Paddy and Rhona agreeing to keep their kiss a secret, that might be difficult when Chas finds out. Will she keep quiet?

Meanwhile, not everybody is happy at the news of the engagement, and Vanessa decides to have a quiet word with her mate, checking she’s really sure getting wed to her controlling fella is the right way forward.

She’s very nice about it, and just airs her concerns that Rhona and Pierce are rushing into things, but jealous and manipulative Pierce overhears their chat.

Will her best friend’s fears strike a chord with Rhona? Or will what Pierce has listened in on make him isolate her from her friends even further?

Is Rhona in even more danger now she’s engaged to the man?
