Ed Balls is right behind the idea

Is the BBC One show set for a big change?

Former dancer Ed sent the entire nation into a frenzy after he performed an epic dance to Gangnam Style.

Talking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on the Good Morning Britain sofa, the hosts were quizzing him about whether the competition could change now that people are very aware of being gender neutral.

“What about on Strictly?”, asked Susanna Reid. Ed responded: “There should be same sex couples on Strictly.”

He added: “I think that will happen, I’m not sure whether that will happen this year, but that’s up to the producers.

“It will end up with us moving in that direction in ballroom dancing.”

Fans absolutely loved his comments.

“ed balls was talking really well about gender neutral stuff im confused as to whether i dont like him [sic]”, said another confused viewer at home.

One was telling Piers to stop teasing him. Mr Balls certainly has a big group of fans…

As well as being a hit with the people at home, he is also a huge hit with the Bafta team because he has been nominated for an award!

His Gangnam Style dance is in the Must-See Moment category. It’s no surprise really, it was a rather brilliant moment.

Also in the running for the award is Michelle Obama in Carpool Karaoke, Danny Dyer in Who Do You Think You Are? AND the moment that newly hatched baby iguanas are chased by a huge snake on Planet Earth II is also shortlisted.

What an eclectic group of nominees!

Good luck Ed…
