As the Carters struggled to cobble together the funds to pay the £10,000 fine, Mick was facing a six week prison sentence.
But after a row with Tina about her abilities as a mother, Shirley decided to step up and take the blame herself. Unfortunately, she ended up with a doubled sentence and is now serving three months as punishment for perverting the course of justice.
As she settles into life behind bars, it’s not an easy experience. She stares longingly at a picture of her family, feeling alone and miserable.
But one person who’s fuming on the outside about the whole thing is Tina.
Under pressure Teen doesn’t believe Shirley’s done this to save Mick, she thinks the only reason Shirl’s got herself banged up is to punish her by leaving her to cope with Sylvie on her own.
She’s simmering with resentment when she goes with Mick to visit Shirley, and she fails to hide her feelings.

As Tina angrily confronts her sister for abandoning her responsibilities, she ends up storming out of the room, unable to forgive her.
