EastEnders fans slam new family before they’ve even been on screen

The Taylors are set to "change the Square forever"

| Updated:

EastEnders have only just announced the imminent arrival of the new Taylor family to the Square and already viewers have insisted they’ll be switching off when they arrive.

The clan is led by fearsome Karen, a single mum who has four children in tow: Keanu, Bernadette, Riley and Chatham.

There is a fifth child, Karen’s eldest Chantelle, who lives nearby with her two kids but will not – as yet – appear on screen.

The Taylors are completed by their dog Bronson and bearded dragon Rooney.

Announcing the Taylors, the soap’s exec producer Sean O’Connor said: “I’m hugely excited at the arrival of Karen and her family in Albert Square.

“They’re noisy, brash and not to be messed with.

“Karen is a twenty-a-day lioness, bringing up her kids with no support, no money and a very loud mouth.

“But though they may lack cash, the Taylors have love and warmth in spades.

“This summer is going to be explosive as the Taylors settle in Walford. The Square will never be quite the same again.”

But fans have already commented to Entertainment Daily that they’re not impressed with the new signings.

And it seems fans on Twitter agree.

But some fans are excited by the prospect of the newcomers – one in particular Benidorm actor Danny Walters, who plays eldest son Keanu.

Charmer Keanu – who’s gonna be able to take him seriously with that name?! – views himself as the head of the family, man of the ‘ouse…

Danny says: “Having only been filming EastEnders for a few weeks, I feel so privileged to already feel a part of the team.

“Everyone has been so friendly and kind and gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome and supported.

“There has been a huge buzz surrounding the new family and I am so excited to see what the future holds for The Taylors.

“Keanu is very grateful to live at Number 3 Albert Square and will try his very best not to disturb the peace in the Square.”

Another thing that has confused fans is that actress Lorraine Stanley – who plays Karen – previously starred in EastEnders as Thelma, Linda Carter’s rival, and mum to Jay’s underage girlfriend, Star, last year.

But Lorraine is playing a totally different character and fans hoping Star would be joining the clan will be left disappointed.

Let’s give them a chance. After all, no one liked the Battersby’s when they first landed in Corrie and now they’re one of the most iconic and much-loved names in Soapland. Who knows, maybe the Taylors will be the same before too long…
