EastEnders chaos as writers rewrite Carter funeral minus Mick

Danny Dyer's absence continues to cause headaches

Okay folks, if you’re a fan of the doom and gloom of EastEnders, look away now.

We have a spoiler alert.

As you’d expect, no one in Albert Square stays happy for long and it looks like the Carter family are in for more pain and anguish in the coming weeks.

You see, Sylvie Carter is going to cark it.

Yep, Mick Carter’s gran is going to that place where most of the cast of the show have ended up in the past few months – following hot on the heels of Peggy Mitchell and Roxy and Ronnie Mitchell.

Gosh, soap heaven must be a busy place.

This week, filming took place at a crematorium in Hendon where the cast who play Sylvie’s nearest and dearest got together to pay their last respects.

However, there were a couple of key cast members missing – Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright, who are both on a break from the long-running BBC show.

As you can imagine, this isn’t how the writers originally planned to send Sylvie off – with Mick missing from proceedings.

The Daily Star suggests the soap’s writers have been burning the midnight oil to write him out of scenes and come up with a plausible reason why such a family man would miss his gran’s funeral.

Apparently, a source told the paper:

“It’s going to look very odd for Mick not to attend the funeral, but the writers are having to come up with some excuse as to why he cannot be there.

“We all know Danny comes first so the writers are working around the clock to tweak key stories.”

It is as yet unclear how Sylvie dies or whether it is linked to her Alzheimer’s .

Linda Marlowe, who plays Sylvie,  joined EastEnders in 2014 to play Mick ‘s mum.

In a shock plot twist it emerged that she was actually his gran because big sister Shirley was in fact his mum!
