Eamonn Holmes hits back at Twitter troll who called him a “bargain bin presenter”

The GMB stand-in replied to the tweet live on air

Eamonn Holmes addressed a Twitter troll while presenting Thursday’s Good Morning Britain.

The 57-year-old is currently taking the place of Piers Morgan while he takes a break during half term, but Eamonn hasn’t proved that popular with viewers.

However, after receiving a mean comment, Eamonn proved that he wasn’t going to just sit back and take it.

The message said: “#GMB is reduced to something awful when bargain bin presenter @EamonnHolmes takes over. Sub-par presenting and by-the-book presenters”, alongside a sleepy/bored emoji.

While chatting with co-host Ranvir Singh, Eamonn said: “Massive compliment I’ve just got today on Twitter and social media, I have to share it with you.

“Good morning at GelNerd, nerd by name, nerd by nature.”

He then read out the tweet, as Ranvir looked at him open-mouthed.

The Irishman said: “Now, that’s the first time I’ve ever been called by the book!”

Joking, Ranvir replied: “Or cheap! Definitely not cheap,” laughing.

Eamonn finished: “Indeed. Keep them coming. That’s made my day!”

One Twitter user told Eamonn to “take no notice”.

The man who sent the tweet even replied, and said he wasn’t expecting Eamonn to read it out on live television.

That’ll teach him!

On yesterday’s show, Eamonn riled a few viewers up after asking his co-host if she could pitch a tent.

Charlotte replied: “I can pitch a tent. I can pitch a tent single-handedly.”

For some reason, it didn’t sit well with viewers, and they demanded Piers Morgan come back!

“EamonnHolmes on #GMB giving me the creeps ..Never thought I would say it..Miss you @piersmorgan”.
