ITV in a bind as Ant McPartlin’s I’m A Celeb return uncertain, Holly Willoughby may step in

Is this who'd we like to see in Ant's place

There’s a bit of a panic at ITV right now.

Why?

Because the future of I’m A Celeb is in question.

Well, not exactly in question per se, but there could be a problem if the brilliant Ant McPartlin isn’t ready to return to work in time for the next series in November.

As we all know, Ant is in a rehab facility being treated for an addiction to booze and prescription painkillers.

But it is unclear how long his treatment will continue.

ITV have already granted the star a year off to deal with his with health problems, but it leaves one question: Who will replace him on the show if he doesn’t return in time?

While we reckon fellow Geordie Scarlett Moffatt would be a great choice, it’s been reported that ITV may rely on an another star from its ITV family.

That’s right, Holly Willoughby.

It is believed that they think she’s the perfect stand in for the show because she is good mates with Ant and Dec so the chemistry will just work.

“I’m A Celeb is ITV’s biggest show of the year so they’re keen to get a plan in place should Ant want to continue his down time,” a source close to Ant has told the Daily Star.

“Holly is the number one choice, she’s the nation’s favourite and already a huge fan of the show – the perfect Jane of the jungle to Dec’s Tarzan!

“Building on-screen chemistry and relationships is what Holly does best, which is perfect for the jungle.”

It is understood, that ITV are so keen to have Holly in the prime position that they are willing to pay for her entire family, including children Harry, Belle and Chester to stay with her in Australia.

A representative for Holly has told The Sun the claims are “complete nonsense”.

It’s also believed that Caroline Flack is in the running for the show after the success of this year’s Love Island, though some think this is doubtful after only lasting on The X Factor for one season when she failed to impress viewers!
