Corrie SPOILER: As Maria leaves prison Aidan’s there waiting

There's definitely unfinished business here...

She has been in prison since Christmas Eve, but now Maria Connor is out of jail and heading back to Weatherfield.

And as the first person she runs into is factory owner Aidan, who she had been having a secret affair with, it looks like she’ll be thrown straight back into all the drama.

Actress Samia Longchambon was spotted filming scenes for Coronation Street again, after taking a short break from the soap.

Her character – hairdresser Maria – has been banged up since Christmas, after admitting to marrying her Argentinian friend Pablo so he could get a visa to stay in the country.

In a verdict that shocked the Street, she was sentenced to 12 months in prison, but has now been let out early for good behaviour – and could be seen sporting an ankle tag.

As Maria was sent down, her lover Aidan (played by Shayne Ward) confessed that he loved her.

But during the months she has been inside, Aidan still hasn’t broken things off with his girlfriend Eva (Catherine Tyldesley).

But he is there to meet Maria when she is let out of the nick.

Looking very glamorous and sophisticated (well, apart from that ankle security tag), she’s clearly not pleased to see him at first, as he drives alongside her in his flash motor. But eventually whatever he says persuades her to get in and talk.

Samia explained that viewers can expect to see a different side to the hairdresser, when she returns to the cobbles after her spell inside.

“I was talking to Kate Oates (executive producer) about that and we were both saying that she wouldn’t come out the same person.

“I think it’s bound to change her in some way and she’s bound to be affected by what she’s been through. It will definitely change her but I’m not sure how.”

And as for whether or not the pair will rekindle their romance? Well, we’ll have to see just exactly how persuasive Aidan can be.

But as and when Eva the Diva does find out the truth about her boyfriend and her so-called best friend, Maria might well wish she was back in jail…
