Corrie’s new character Shona linked to Kylie Platt’s past and family secrets

She has been sobbing at the late mum's graveside

| Updated:

Corrie fans are busy speculating about the identity and back story of newcomer Shona, after she visited Kylie Platt’s grave last night.

The mysterious brunette first appeared in the soap as she stole David Platt’s wallet from a bar.

Vicar Billy then brought her to Coronation Street after meeting her at church and learning she was homeless.

When Todd found David’s wallet about her possessions and explained the tragic story behind the photo of Kylie kept within it, Shona seemed guilt-ridden.

We just thought at the time that she was a decent person at heart who had fallen on hard times.

But now there seems to be more of a connection between Shona and the late Kylie.

Last night, the Roy’s Rolls cafe worker became agitated when Kylie’s best pal Gemma told her that she recognised her from the Dog & Gun pub, where the girls used to drink.

Shona said that Gemma had mistaken her for someone else and warned her to back off.

But later the waitress was seen sobbing at Kylie’s graveside.

What could it all mean? Twitter is, of course, a hotbed of theories. Could Kylie and Shona be sisters?

One viewer posted: “I have a feeling Shona is either Kylie’s sister or close friend- knew each other from the dog & gun #Corrie.”

Another said: “Shona is Kylie’s sister. HAS TO BE! Mannerisms are similar and she freaks out whenever David or Gemma are around. #Corrie.

Is Shona perhaps connected to Kylie’s ex Callum? Or is she connected to Clayton, the mum-of two’s killer?

“So Shona knows Kylie? Maybe Shona could be Callum’s sister and that’s how she knew Kylie or maybe she could’ve been Kylie’s sister?? #Corrie,” another person speculated.

One thing’s for sure, she is set to be sticking around on Coronation Street for a while to come – but could this lead to happiness or heartbreak for the Platt family?
