Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker on the soap, has sent fans into a spin after a midnight announcement on Twitter that she’s pregnant with her gay best friend’s baby.
She revealed she was expecting a little one with blogger Lee Bennett last night, but has since gone on to delete the posts – so is the whole thing a joke?
The actress announced the news on her Twitter account with a message reading: “So excited to share the news that me and Lee Bennett are having a babrooon together #Gayby.”
She then added: “Couldn’t think of a better pers to bring life into this world than with my GBF Lee Bennett. 21st century baba [sic].”
Not content with leaving the supposed prank there, Katie also posted an image of a stork with a baby on her Instagram account with the caption:
“So happy & proud to announce that me and my GBF @_leebennett have decided to have a baby together. Couldn’t think of a better person to bring a baby into the world than my best friend! #BabyNews #Baba.”
All the posts have since been deleted, which seemingly confirm it was all a joke.
But Lee has left his tweet up, announcing their baby news.
And he’s also replied to another one of hers begging them to call their tot Jerry. Hmm, this is sounded more and more staged to us…

Although Katie has yet to officially confirm her pregnancy isn’t real, it seems more than likely that it was just a prank that went a little bit wrong and attracted perhaps more attention than she had wanted.
Katie was recently at the centre of a dating riddle when it was claimed she was cosying up with Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice, who had previously dated her former Corrie co-star Georgia May Foote.
It was reported that the pair had enjoyed dinner, a cinema date, and then a night of partying together in London.
At the time Katie put paid to the rumours by uploading a snap of her and Lee to Instagram with the caption: “The only guy I’m dating atm.”

In Corrie Katie’s character’s love life seems to be just as complicated as she’s currently getting back together with ex-boyfriend Chesney Brown after leaving him for Daniel Barlow earlier this year.
While she was with Daniel she got pregnant with his baby, but aborted it after Ken Barlow forced her into it. Daniel then reacted by pushing his dad down the stairs and leaving him for dead.
Sinead left Daniel when she found out what he’d done and has taken the first steps to rekindling things with Chesney – but he was stabbed on Monday night’s episodes.
He’s currently conscious, but as Sinead wasn’t there when he woke up, he’s worried she doesn’t love him after all. Can they work it out?
