Celebrity Big Brother 2017 delayed due to UK general election clash

This isn't the first time this has happened!

Fans of Celebrity Big Brother are going to be crushed after learning their favourite show will probably be pushed back.

And why? Because of the general election!

Prime Minister Theresa May has announced that on Thursday 8 June we’ll be heading to the polls, but that’s the exact week that Channel 5 planned to launch the brand new series of Big Brother 2017.

With the summer Celebrity version usually starting straight after the normal one, it’s likely this will be affected by the election too.

The clash means that Mrs May will be getting all of the coverage, and the reality show could potentially be delayed by a whole week.

The same thing happened during the election in 2010 on Wednesday 5 May, which saw Nick Clegg and David Cameron join forces.

Last year’s series kicked off on a Thursday, on the same day as the election this year.

What a pain!

According to Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark-Neal, the regular show, which runs for up to eight weeks, features a new house which is “unreal”.

“I was there not long ago and the house is so different,” the 28-year-old said.

“When we did the second house last year, that was a massive change for us, but I’m totally just disregarding that for the moment because what we’ve done in the main house is absolutely unbelievable. It’s unreal.”

A spokesperson for the show has also previously revealed that the theme of Big Brother will be ‘pairs’.

They said: “BIG BROTHER 2017 IS BACK…. and this time we’re looking for PAIRS!”

The last celebrity series earlier this year was won by Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan.

We wonder whether they’ll continue the pairs theme on CBB and get her back in with her on/off husband Ray?

When asked if Rylan would ever go back into the house, he replied: “They did ask me to go into the house for a little while.”

He added: “Part of me would want to do it but my only concern is that I had the best time when I was in the house last time. I was single, I had no worries and nothing to lose. I was just having a laugh.

“And because it was so fun first time round, my expectations would be too high.”

We’d love it if he went back in!

Channel 5 haven’t yet revealed any more details, but stay tuned.
