Casualty and EastEnders faves joining forces again for new drama

Girls star in new school drama full of familiar faces

Once upon a time, The Bill was the TV show where out-of-work actors would find new a lease of life.

Then when that was cruelly ditched by ITV, Casualty and Holby City were their next best bets.

But now it looks like former soap stars have a new TV show to fall back on when times get hard.

Channel 4 are currently shooting a new school based drama called The ABC, which is brought to us by EastEnders storyliner, Alex Lamb.

To us, the show looks a bit like Teachers and Waterloo Road combined, so fans of those shows – and there were plenty of us – can look forward to more of the same.

But the best news is the series welcomes back some old soap faces from the past.

Not only is former ‘Enders star Paul Nicholls among the cast, so too is Tanya Branning herself, Jo Joyner.

She will be reunited with her co-star from No angels, Sunetra Sarker, who most of us know as Zoe Hanna from Casualty.

Jo will play strict headteacher Mandy Carter, who takes over an academy which is made up of two merged schools.

Meanwhile Sunetra will play dinner lady Kaneez Paracha.

Gorgeous Paul Nicholls will play Mandy’s PE teacher husband – so hopefully we’ll get to see his legs in a pair of sports shorts! Swoon!

TV favourite Jo was so excited to be back working with her No Angels mate that she posted a fun snap on Twitter:
