BGT could be changing the live show format

The show bosses are trying to make things more exciting

It seems Simon Cowell is planning to give Britain’s Got Talent a shake up when they head into the live shows.

The Golden Buzzer, which judges can press during the auditions to send a contestant straight into the live final rounds, could be making an appearance in the semi-finals.

This would mean contestants might have a chance to make it to the grand final if they impress the judges enough.

The Golden Buzzer has already been pressed twice so far in the talent competition by judges Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon.

A source told the Mirror: “The Golden Buzzer is one of the favourite elements in the audition shows.

“The atmosphere when it is pressed is incredible.

“This will give the judges and Ant and Dec the chance to guarantee their favourite acts get a spot in the final.”

It seems the show, which racks up nine million viewers per week, is looking to make things even more exciting.

The source added: “Producers believe it would make the five, live semis even more exciting.”

This reported new feature could give judges a better opportunity to send a contestant into the final rather than leaving their fate in viewers’ hands.

Alesha Dixon pressed her Golden Buzzer this weekend for dance group Just Us, and Simon, who was the first judge to press it, gave his to singer Sarah Ikumu who is just 15-years-old.

And both acts certainly got viewers talking.

Just Us won hearts of the nation after they revealed they were taking part in the competition in the hope of winning the £250,000 prize money to help Julia Carlile, who is part of the dance group, get life-changing surgery.

The young dancer was born with scoliosis, which means she has a curved spine, and needs to travel to America for the operation.

Alesha was so touched by her story she pressed her buzzer and sent them straight through.

The group will now perform in the semi-finals and who knows, they may get another Golden Buzzer if it gets put into the final rounds.
