Ben Price reveals details of Nick’s Coronation Street exit

It's going to be dramatic

Coronation Street viewers were upset when Ben Price – aka Nick Tilsley – revealed he was leaving the show.

But at least we knew it was going to be a big exit for the long-serving character as he’s right at the heart of the Leanne/Steve/Michelle/Nick baby saga.

Joining hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the This Morning sofa, Ben talked about his reasons for leaving as well as telling them what he knows about the storyline.

“I’m going to leave for my family,” he said.

“It’s been amazing, I’ve loved the show, worked with amazing people and had amazing storylines.

“But my family live 200 miles away. I see my wife and children on a Saturday.”

Speaking about how he’s really looking forward to spending time with his kids, Ben continued:

“I’ll be making paper mache, talking to my kids, taking them to school.

“I’ll leave one family, but gain my real one back.”

In the soap, Nick’s partner, Leanne, has just given birth to a healthy baby boy named Olly.

Although the baby is actually Steve McDonald’s, everyone’s pretending Nick’s the baby daddy, but it’s not plain sailing.

In heartbreaking scenes tonight Michelle visited Leanne and her newborn, which brought up all sorts of raw emotions given she lost her own baby boy at 22 weeks.

And Leanne’s also revealed she doesn’t want Nick’s name on the birth certificate, leaving him stung.

With all this drama, it’s no wonder Nick needs a break from the Street, but exactly how will his character leave?

Well, he wasn’t giving anything away to Holly and Phil, that’s for sure!

“I don’t know how it ends,” he claimed. “Kate Oates asked me if I wanted to know, but I said ‘don’t tell me’!

“I want them to decide. It’s their show, so I want whatever serves the show best.”

He didn’t even give us a tiny hint – that’s not fair!

Whatever happens, with Leanne staying in Weatherfield, it doesn’t look like Nick’s going to get his happy ending, that’s for sure.
