ANOTHER character departs EastEnders

Is this the last we'll see of them though?

With Aunt Babe disappearing in a clap of thunder on Thursday night and Lee Carter set to leave next week, EastEnders cast list is still changing as another character left the Square last night.

Glenda Mitchell had initially returned to Walford shortly before the deaths of her daughters, Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell.

It looked like she was going to stick around when she moved in with Jack Branning to help him raise little Amy, Matthew and Ricky.

Viewers had been concerned Glenda and Jack were going to end up together.

And it turned out Jack was also getting increasingly uncomfortable with her behaviour.

After she kissed him goodnight, he got more than a little creeped out.

And then she went and got Amy’s ears pierced without Jack’s permission and he flipped. He kicked his mother-in-law out and told her never to darken his door again.

She did though. She returned the next episode to try and make it right, but even though Jack had calmed down, he still didn’t want Glenda in his house.

As she begged him to let her help with the kids, claiming she was worried about their state of mind, as well as Jack’s, he called her bluff and told her to take them with her if she wanted to.

He went on to describe all the early mornings and late nights she’d have to face, all the trouble it would bring raising three kids on her own.

She knew she couldn’t do it, and as she agreed to go, Jack told her:

“Admitting this now? Probably the most unselfish act of your life.”

Glenda did ask if she could come back and visit the kids, so maybe this won’t be the very last we see of her – especially not as it seems like she’s set to be the one to expose Max Branning’s revenge scheme.

As she was leaving the house, she cornered Max in the hallway and said:

“Don’t think I haven’t noticed. You’re the one pulling the strings around here. You don’t fool me. And when Jack’s out of his fog, he’ll see it too.

Max being Max, he acted the tough guy and pretended her threats didn’t phase him, but could she be the one to alert the residents of Walford to what he’s up to?

Something tells us this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Glenda Mitchell. We’re pretty sure she’ll pop back up again – when Max least wants her to!
