Leah Bracknell bravely discusses terminal cancer on Loose Women

Former Emmerdale actress says she wakes up "feeling grateful and excited about life"

Leah Bracknell has opened up about her battle with lung cancer on Loose Women after revealing her terminal illness.

The former Emmerdale actress is now on new medication, but looks noticeably frailer than when she first spoke about the devastating news.

The 52-year-old is an expert in shamanic yoga practice and has a very positive outlook on life.

Leah has amazingly raised enough money via a GoFundMe page to pay for life prolonging treatment, but said: “The medicine will stop working at some point.”

However, she still says she doesn’t want to know how long she has left.

Updating the Loose Women panellists on her condition, she said: “It’s not great. The medication will stop working at some point, and that’s when I have to think again.”

Since her diagnosis last year, Leah has told doctors that she doesn’t want to know when she may die.

“I didn’t want doctors to “guess-timate” how long I have left,” she bravely explained to the panel.

“I don’t wake up every morning feeling fearful – I wake up feeling grateful and excited about life.”

Leah and her husband set up the donation page after a huge outpouring from her fans.

The money raised was used on a specialist cancer treatment at a clinic in Germany.

The diagnosis has completely changed Leah’s outlook on life too.

“All the things that you used to worry about, it just goes… I haven’t got the energy to deal with that and I am going to appreciate the good stuff,” she said.

She admits there are moments where she struggles, though, adding: “I feel calm 80% of the time.

“I am not going to lie. Don’t think this is how it is a lot of the time.”

“A lot of work that I have done in the past with shamanic yoga practice… I have a head start. I am lucky that I have tools that I can call upon, that I have less fear about it.

“The more I can build a relationship with the cancer rather than fear it…”

The yoga guru also has her own website titled ‘Something beginning with C’ to help her on this journey.
