Toddler daughter of popular contestant on The Voice killed in freak accident

He was left seriously injured

A star contestant from The Voice has been left devastated after his daughter was killed in a freak accident, in which he was also severely injured.

According to reports, Paul Black, who appeared on the BBC version of the show in 2014, was walking back from the park with his toddler daughter when they were hit by a runaway Range Rover.

Paul, who suffered serious injuries, and Pearl were flown by helicopter to Prince Charles hospital but the little girl was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police believe the the accident occurred when the hand brake on the Range Rover failed which caused it to roll down a steep hill gathering speed as it did.

Paul was unable to pull Pearl away in time.

The news of the little girl’s death has left Paul’s neighbours distraught.

One neighbour told the Mirror: “She was such a gorgeous little girl with the most beautiful big brown eyes – it’s heartbreaking.”

“The whole street has been left in tears. Pearl was going to be a star like her dad.”

When Paul, from South Wales, appeared on the show singing Van Halen’s Jump in a  jazz style, he joked that he was the son of Tom Jones.

Hi wife Gemma, who was at home looking after their eight month old son when the accident happened, is said to be devastated about her daughter’s death and is being comforted by neighbours.
