Nothing to see here, people

Nicole Scherzinger has addressed speculation she had an ‘awkward’ encounter with Tess Daly on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Pussycat Doll appeared on the BBC show on Saturday night in support of her former bandmate Ashley Roberts, who is a contestant.

But some viewers thought an exchange between her and presenter Tess looked a little frosty

Twitter was alight with speculation over what Nicole muttered to Tess as the two women sat next to each other in the audience, with some viewers suggesting Nicole had commented on Tess sitting too close to her.

However, Nicole has now posted a message on Twitter explaining that the pair were talking about their dresses.

She tweeted: “Tess: ‘Nice Dress!’ Me: ‘Thanks!’ *Looks Down* ‘Wow, together we look like Christmas.’ *Looks up and realizes we’re live..* (sic).”

Nicole, 40, added: “Tess Daly can sit as close to me as she likes & everyone else can focus on how Ashley Roberts killed it last night! Have a blessed, positive Sunday! Xo.”

Tess, 49, backed up Nicole’s post by liking it on Twitter.

Former X Factor judge Nicole won Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing, back in 2010.

She was in the audience to support former bandmate Ashley, who finished Saturday’s show joint top of the leaderboard after a Trolls-themed Charleston with pro partner Pasha Kovalev earned 39 out of a possible 40 points.

Ashley shared the top spot with Steps star Faye Tozer, who also earned 39 for her Theatre/Jazz routine with Giovanni Pernice.

It was comedian Seann Walsh who was voted off the show on Sunday’s results programme, after he and Katya Jones landed in the dance-off against cricketer Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse.

The judges unanimously voted to save Graeme and Oti.

It marked the end of an eventful Strictly stint for Seann and Katya, who were forced to apologise earlier this month after being caught kissing on the street despite both being in relationships.

Seann was subsequently dumped by his actress girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, while Katya insisted her marriage to fellow pro dancer Neil Jones is fine and the kiss wasn’t a reflection on their marriage.

Strictly Comes Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One.
